Why a website?

I’ve debating starting a website for awhile now and, honestly, it might not even be necessary. But the more I thought about wanting to have a place where I can gather and show off my work, a website just made the most sense.

What to expect:

I don’t envision this site as a place where I will be regularly writing posts and sharing content. That, I will save primarily for my Tiktok and Substack accounts. Instead, this site will serve as a bit of a home base where I can direct folks out to these other various channels.

Perhaps a bit contradictory to what I just said, I do envision gathering subscriber emails through this site for two purposes. One, a means of insurance against any potential social media implosions/legal proceedings (i.e. Tiktok being sold, Twitter changing ownership, etc.) wherein I would lose ownership or access lists of follows, subscribers, etc. And two, as a way to send out more administrative and general updates through a monthly newsletter.

This, I imagine, will contain information along the lines of: recent Substack posts, Tiktok posts, progress updates on fiction pieces, (hopefully) eventual publications and links, things of that nature.

Overall, this site might, maybe, potentially just be more of a way for me to stay organized and get practice with content generation and dissemination, but I hope it will prove entertaining/useful to someone out there eventually.
